April Ross

April Ross is one of only a few female beach volleyball athletes to win medals at more than one Olympics. Alix Klineman is the newest Olympian and is set to join the team in Tokyo. Ross is determined to earn more than just her first Olympic medal. As she is 39, it may be her final chance. But she's still confident of achieving top honours. Ross was mentioned by NBC Boston as saying that if you play your top, even if you play well we will get the gold. "I'm trying to also try some luck." Ross was born August 22nd, 1982 at Costa Mesa California. She resided in the area along with her entire family. Ross competed in many sports while attending Newport Harbor High School. In her time as a college athlete, she also played indoor volleyball and track. In her final game she stood out. In her high school volleyball career as per her college biography she played as an outside-hitter, middle-blocker and setter. Thanks to her hard work, she was honored as in 1999 as the Gatorade Circle of Champions National Player of the Year. The skills she showed in volleyball also earned her an Orange County Athlete of the Awards in the year 2000. Ross Klineman and Ross may have begun working together at the beginning of 2017, but Ross had already been a seasoned player at the beach before they teamed up. Actually Ross has been a winner of several major tournaments in her career along with her two teammates. One of them is a legend. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 until 2013. Together with Kessy Ross, she won an Olympic Title in 2009 while competing internationally. In 2012, the pair won silver at London's Olympics. Misty Maytreanor's legendary team as well as Kerri Jennings were the winners of gold. Ross Jennings took over for May-Treanor after she retired. They took home the bronze medal in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics 2016. Ross competed for USC Trojans in her college prior to becoming a professional. Her time at USC was an impressive one. As a freshmen in 2000, her play earned her the Pac-10 as well as NCAA the Freshman of the Year award. The Trojans could also reach the Final Four with her help. During her sophomore year she suffered a tremendous personal setback, but she was able to make it back as an All-American. Through her final two seasons with the Trojans she was instrumental in helping them achieve consecutive championships. Individually she had cemented herself as an all-time great winning the 2003-2004 Honda Sports Award as the most outstanding female college volleyball player. Ross was a student of international relations at USC. Margie Ross didn't get to see Ross reach beach volleyball's highest levels. Ross's mother Margie died in 2001 when Ross was still an USC sophomore. Her breast cancer had been diagnosed. She continues to cherish her mother who died. Margie is a beach lover as well as in her everyday life, continues to inspire her.
