In 1997 she began acting in the age group of 13. Following a series of classes, and working as a background actor for Canadian programs like Road to Avonlea and Harriet the Spy and Harriet the Spy, she was offered her first part in a spoken role the Canadian Children's Horror anthology Goosebumps and Are you afraid of the Dark?, both series that aired in 1997 on YTV. Vandervoort was cast on Smallville the serial drama that airs on The CW. She is Clark Kent's Kryptonian "Kara Kent" she is the girl that will eventually be Supergirl. The season 7 episode was the first time she was a regular in the series. In season 7, she was in "Bloodline" in the episode of season 8. She returned to Smallville for two additional episodes in the finale season of the show, also her 10th season. After The CW and Smallville, Vandervoort was able to film the sequel to feature film Into the Blue titled Into the Blue 2: The Reef. The Jazzman is her third independently produced film. It also features in a Canadian cast, including Michael Ironside, who appeared in two episodes of the V miniseries and also the regular 1984 V series. Laura Laura Laura
